A benefit auction for Michigan State University turfgrass research is being run in conjunction with the Michigan Turfgrass Foundation and many golf courses throughout Michigan (plus a couple in CA, FL, etc…)
If you go to the site, it will fill you in on the purpose of the auction. In order to see what is available, click on the “2011 Auction Open Now” spot and you get directed to Sheridan Realty & Auction Company which is running the online auction. The auction runs from May 1 to May 15. You bid on the cost for your 4-some to play many of the premier courses in Michigan. I ran through the available course listings and some of them are intriguing (e.g. the private Meadowbrook Country Club). I was a bit disappointed that more private clubs did not offer spots. Let’s face it, Oakland Hills could command a very nice bid for a 4-some and the cost to them is virtually nothing. Oh well, maybe next year. Still, this appears to be a nice opportunity to help a good cause AND pick up some inexpensive golf.
