I am going to put in a plug for a Michigan website, Lesson On Golf. If one listens to WWJ (950 AM), a local sportscaster, Jeff Lesson, can often be heard giving the lastest in sports. He is also connected to a website that features discounted golf.
Most of the deals involve buying a certificate for a twosome or foursome (including cart). Typically the certificate can be used any time during the week but is restricted on Saturday or Sunday and holidays until after 12pm . One needs to review the restrictions and terms as each course is different.
I was leery of this deal but bought a certificate a year ago and it worked fine. The course recognized the program and I got two rounds of golf (with cart) on a Saturday afternoon for a total cost of less than $30.
The deals presented change over the course of a Summer and the number of certificates is limited. I recently bought two rounds at Pheasant Run for $55 plus a $4 processing fee. If we went to the course in June to play on a Saturday afternoon, the cost would be $110. However, with the certificate our cost is $59. Of course, if one is going to play during the week, is a Senior, or a resident of Canton, MI, the savings will be less. Still, that is a fairly good deal.
Personally, I prefer to walk so the inclusion of a cart is a minor irritant. However, multiple times during the Summer I will play with friends/relatives who prefer to ride and these certificates come in handy.
One should always check to make sure the course does not already have a special posted or offers a “2 for 1” deal through the GAM Gold Card. However, I have found these deals to be well-priced.
