I am always interested in unique competition formats. I recently played in a “Red/White/Blue” 3-man scramble. It was played on a nine hole course with a total of 27 holes played. The first time around we played the “red” tees, the second time the “white”, etc…
As a nine hole course, it would not have been much fun to just go around two or three times from the tips. This format worked well because the tees varied significantly in length (e.g. a par 3 at 90 yards from the “red”, 155 yards from the “white” and 195 yards from the “blue”).
I am not a big fan of scrambles and tend to avoid them if at all possible. Still, this was an interesting format and I was glad I participated.
