the bear at grand traverse resort is a great track, home of the michigan open each year. an early nicklaus design.
the wolverine is at same location, a gary player course; i haven’t played it, but i hear it is enjoyable, though not the test that the bear is.
lochenheath is also right at traverse city. some like it, some say the opposite… i remember blind shots, and ridiculously contoured greens.
depending on where exactly you are staying, and how far you want to drive, i have 2 others to recommend.
1. arcadia bluffs, about 45-60 minutes south west of traverse city…gorgeous , on the shore of lake michigan…similar to whistling straights. check out their web site. it is between manistee and frankfort michigan.
2. forest dunes , in grayling…many think this may be the best michigan has to offer…a weiskopf gem. with an awesome practice facility…about an hour from traverse city.
