As with much on this site, the forums are an experiment.
To use the forums, the first thing you have to do is to sign up to become a member. You can use the link above to do so.
After that, you can post to your heart’s content.
There are a couple of neat features to this forum software.
First, you can post your own polls. Just start a new topic in the appropriate area and click on the “Add a poll to this topic” link. The rest is self explanatory.
You can upload your own Avatar, as long as it’s no larger than 100x100 and 50kb. And you can add a signature that will appear on every post. Both of these can be added through the Your Control Panel link above.
There also is a private messaging system. The PM logo above will tell you when you have private messages from another member awaiting you. You can send a private message to anyone who posts by clicking on the PM link to the left of their post. This will send an internal message to them.
There is a spell checking system that really works well. It opens a new window, showing the misspelled words with a link under them. Click on the link and suggested alternatives pop up. Pick the one you want, and then click on the link that says save changes.
And if you make a mistake in syntax, unlike other message systems, you can go back and edit your old post.
Finally, you can check the option to have the system notify you via email when someone posts a reply to your post.
