I’m a beginner in playing golf and I want to improve my playing level. Is there any other method except exercise frequently? Or should I take in some golf club in the field? I have no idea about this. I wonder if you could give me some other suggestion or recommendation. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
If you master the putting and chipping side of golf you can minimize your strokes that way. Most courses have practice putting greeens that you can practice on and it’s free.
I have an blog over on Squidoo.com that’s a pretty basic tutorial about putting but it’s a start.
If you have an area to practice (a field) I would suggest getting a “Shag bag” and some practice balls. The Shagbag holds the balls and if you get the one with the metal tube coming out the bottom will help you pick them up. The practice balls if you ask around I’m sure there’s some golfers who would give you some old practice balls. When you practice dump all the balls out and then set your shag bag out a ways and use it as the target. Always have a target - don’t just aim at the earth. When you play a round the target is a round 4” hole, so when you practice have a similar target. You might find a good golfer to give you some basic pointers or read Golf Digest. Don’t focus on everything in the magazine just look at how the pros stand and take away. Try to do the same. Good luck and have fun. Ted
The only real way to improve is to practise what you have trouble at and to play as much as you can. Lessons if you can afford them will definitely help.
Do not have to tee-off from the designated tee-off area. Make it an option to
tee of at the 50 yd Marker and graduate 25 yds each time your game improves.
Must hit all full shots off a tee. And, yes, that means from the fairway.
Clubs to use are 7 or 9-wood, 7-iron, 8-iron, 9-iron, pitching wedge, sand
wedge, and putter. All other clubs are for decorative purposes only.
Do not have to finish a hole. Yeah, that’s right!
If a hole looks too difficult, SKIP IT!
Score is not in relation to par, score is in relation to hitting good shots. For
example, your goal on a specific hole may be to hit one good shot.
P.S. Hey new golfer! You are about to embark on an incredible journey. Most new
golfers quit the game within their first six weeks of trying. This is because of all the bad
ways they are introduced to the game and all the “golf myths” they are told. The game
becomes intimidating and not fun. The truth is…
There is a better way! 2 things.
I have a general question about some memorabilia I have. I have a Western Golf Association money clip from 1899. It has large letters in the middle WGA. At the bottom it says member par club. This was in an estate sale. Does anyone have any information on this item. I would like any comments or help with this. Can you tell me where I can get any info on this item.
if you are just starting out, i would recommend taking lessons from a pro. If not, than if you have a good friend that plays, try to get them to take you out and give you a few pointers. I started out playing with friends, and would pick up tips from everyone i played with.
I have a neighbor that had never played before. He would go out in front of his house and swing a few clubs around each day, and then began frequenting the driving range. Then about a year later (this past summer) he started playing at actual golf courses. I played with him a couple of times at the end of the summer, and he got pretty good. So do whatever you need to, in order to be comfortable in hitting the ball, and then venture out on the course and try playing.
There are believers in “swing plane”, “weight transfer”, shoulder turn”, “strong grips”, “weak grips”, or whatever, some even think the answer is in new equipment. While all of these things certainly have a place in golf and maybe in your golf swing, none of them should be considered to be the “Secret” to the game because there is a common denominator that must be under control for any of the aforementioned fixes to work at all. In my opinion, there is a “secret to golf” it is what I call the Center of Gravity Consistency Triangle.
Keep working on your consistency and you will become a better golfer.
