Interesting article by Mike Stachura, Golf Digest Equipment editor, on his 2006 trip(s) to Asia:
“In 2006, Mike Stachura, senior editor-equipment for Golf Digest, traveled to Asia to see the other side of the golf equipment industry. He was provided unprecedented access to the manufacturing and R&D;headquarters of top manufacturers Bridgestone and Mizuno. He attended the Japan Golf Fair and walked the golf-shop filled streets of Tokyo. And he was granted exclusive tours at all levels of golf manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and China, including a first-hand look at the operations of the top golf club supplier in the world, Fu Sheng. He experienced all the luxury of the largest golf resort in the world in China’s Mission Hills, and he haggled with the proprietor of a tiny, unkempt golf shop on a side street in Dongguan over whether the counterfeit club he knew he was looking at was or was not legit”
