I have yet to see any posts about the terrific golf we have here up North. In the past few weeks I’ve played 54 @Black Lake, 18 @ True North, 36 @ Bay Harbor and 18 at each of the 4 courses at Boyne Highlands. Talk about spectacular golf! I can’t find the words other than AMAZING GOLF.
I have to agree on the golf in Northern MI. Stayed in Glen Arbor this summer (The Homestead). We played Sleeping Bear, Kings Challenge, Mistwood and the nine hole course Mountain Flowers at The Homestead. We really enjoyed The Kings Challenge and Mistwood. Sleeping Bear was a little burned out at the time we played, but was still fun. All were very reasonable in price. Mountain Flowers views along Lake Michigan were unbelievably. Yes we are going back next summer what a beautiful area.
We wanted to play Arcadia, but my fugality got in the way. Is it really worth the price of admision? We could play 3 other courses for the greens fees at Arcadia. kirkf
kirk: As for the green fees, I’d say it’s definetely worth it, although I would recommend playing early or mid fall, when they come down. Bay Harbor is getting $200 (I think. Used to be $220), so Arcadia isn’t so bad by comparison. All the courses up here drop their green fees in the fall. You can get some pretty good deals early summer too. Of all the courses, I’d spend my money on Black Lake. It’s a Reese Jones course up by Onaway in the middle of nowhere. If you know someone who belongs to the UAW, have them call and make your tee time and you’ll save a bunch. It is, in my opinion, by far the very best course up here.
