Trump International Puerto Rico has earned several high accolades
RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico—In just three years, Trump International Golf Club & Residences Puerto Rico (TIPR), located in the scenic area of Rio Grande, has achieved significant milestones, standing its ground as one of the leading golf courses across the globe. Most recently, the PGA TOUR selected Trump International Golf Club as one of the top two “Best On-Site Presentations.” Additionally, Golfweek, the highly-respected golfing magazine, ranked TIPR’s International Course in the top ten of its “Best Golf Courses of the Caribbean & Mexico.” TIPR was also awarded “Best Golf Course in Puerto Rico” by the American Academy of Hospitality Services, an organization that awards excellence in the luxury travel industry.
For the fourth consecutive year, the property will host the Puerto Rico Open, an official PGA Tour event, from March 8 - 11, 2012.
The “Best On-Site Presentation” awards are based on the overall look and feel of the Tournament, both for those who attend as well as those who watch the PGA Tour on a week to week basis. Earlier this year Golfweek Magazine ranked TIPR in the top 10 of “Tour Courses You Can Play.” And with this new accolade of being ranked in the Magazine’s top 10 of the “Best Courses in the Caribbean,” even more attention is brought to the property, the Tournament, as well as to the island of Puerto Rico. TIPR’s Championship Course was also included in the ranking at No. 26. Rankings are done by Golfweek’s own “Raters,” located throughout the U.S. and Europe, who play and rate the courses throughout the year. The raters evaluate each course based on a 10-point criterion and then file an overall 1-10 rating of each course.
Since 2007, TIPR had undergone more than US$5 million in improvements to bring both the International and the Championship courses up to the highest caliber golf standards. With the serene blue Atlantic Ocean and El Yunque Rainforest surrounding the property, the location alone makes the setting spectacular. Trump International Golf Club’s two 18-hole courses offer four distinct experiences on an impressive landscape; the Championship Course begins among lakes and follows to the ocean with incredible water views while the International Course runs through hills and sits on green mangroves for a challenging yet beautiful golf setting.
