Founded by Barney Adams in 1986, Adams Golf first became known for its Tight Lies fairway woods beginning in 1996. Although it has been accused of being a knock-off of the earlier Concorde, the Tight Lies became an instant hit. Since then, Adams Golf has become one of the biggest names in the industry. These days, Adams continues to innovate, taking its famous "upside down" head to develop utility woods, easy to hit irons and drivers.
Adams Pro Black CB2 Irons
ADAMS Pro Black CB2 Iron Set 4-GW with Steel Shafts
Adams has really stepped up their game in the irons department in recent years. I recall the first Tight Lies irons that I tried—didn’t really like them at all—in spite of the fact that I thought their fairway woods terrific. The Adams Pro Black CB2 Iron Set is one of Adams’ latest efforts. With forged 8620 carbon steel heads and a Ni-Cr-plated black finish, these are designed as Tour caliber wrenches.

Adams Idea Tech V3 Forged Irons
ADAMS Idea Tech V3 Forged Iron Set 4-6 Hybrid with Graphite Shafts, 7H, 8-GW with Steel Shafts
Forged irons aren’t just for single digit handicappers. With the Idea Tech V3 Forged, Adams offers a forged super-game-improvement club. The Tech V3 Forged Set consists of 4-, 5- and 6- progressively-sized hybrids, a 7-mid-hybrid and four oversized cavity back forged irons (8-GW). Thelong hybrids feature strategically placed tungsten weighting in the premium stainless steel head for enhanced forgiveness and spin while a four-way chambered sole and recessed heel and toe areas reduce turf drag for superior playability and versatility. The transitional hybrid mid-iron includes a viscoelastic vibration dampening system for exceptional feel. A precisely located heel and toe weighting in the oversized forged heads of the short irons maximize scoring potential.
Plus, they look sinister with that black finish.

Adams Speedline 11 Driver
ADAMS Speedline Fast 11 Driver
Adams is working the aerodynamic angle hard these days with its line of drivers. Last year, the Speedline design used computer design and wind tunnels to gain more speed—and thus more distance. This year, the Adams engineers added “Velocity Slots” near the crown and sole, which they claim makes it 35% more aerodynamic. That’s because the airflow stays attached throughout the swing without resulting drag and turbulance. More speed. More distance.

Adams Speedline Fast 10 Driver
The word on this driver seems to be that it is indeed fast, but that the shaft has a bit too much flex. Those who like a regular might be better served getting a stiff.
I think this points out something that everyone should be aware of when buying clubs: there is no standard for flex. One manufacturer’s regular is another’s stiff and so on. So you really have to try a club for a while before knowing.

Adams Idea Pro Black CB1 Irons
Adams Men’s CB1 Irons - (Steel) 4-GW
Starting with the Tight Lies woods, Adams Golf has built its reputation around its lines of easy-to-hit sticks. I frankly never thought of them as clubs that the pros would use. But that’s no knock. Most of us can’t play the clubs the pros use any way.
But in recent years, Adams has had Tour success with their hybrid clubs. Now they seem to be branching out with the Idea Pro Black CB1 Irons, a premium set with tour-styled forged carbon steel heads with a dramatic Ni-Cr plated black finish.
The CB1 Irons are forged from 8620 carbon steel—a material favored by many skilled players for the feel, performance and feedback. The clubs have a cavity back, but apparently not so much that it affects workability. A “constant offset” throughout the set, thin top line and beveled trailing edge also are designed to appeal to the better player.
Plus, they’re black. I like black clubs.

Adams Speedline Driver
Taking a step away from the recent square-triangle-trapezoidal geometric driver craze, Adams has developed a new “Speedline” Driver, with aerodynamic shaping that’s supposed to create less drag for higher clubhead speed. Adams claims that it’s driver offers three- to four- more MPH in clubhead speed, and thus three to nine yards more distance.
Anyone remember the speed slot on the Ben Hogan woods of a few years ago? That was supposed to do the same thing.
It make sense. And the Adams Speedline is a great looking club.

Adams Idea Pro Gold Hybrids
ADAMS Idea Pro Gold Hybrid with Matrix Ozik Graphite Shaft
The Idea Pro Gold Hybrids, Adams says, were designed with strong input from the tour pros who have made Adams hybrids the most played in professional golf.
Adams claism that the new “boxer” design, improved maraging steel face and new weighting system offer significant improvements over the previous line. The result is a club that has 5% more forgiveness on off center hits with a 10% improvement in launch conditions.
