Unconventional Putting

There is, apparently, only one acceptable way to swing a club; but there are a thousand ways to putt.

Long putters, belly putters, the “Claw”, reverse handed ... if you can imagine it, someone has tried it, with varying degrees of success.

Myrtle Beach Online has an article on the putting menagerie.

Grey Goose Gateway Tour Merges With Golden Bear

Upstart Grey Goose Gateway Tour has swallowed the Golden Bear Tour to create a mega-developmental tour.

The new entity will be called the Grey Goose Gateway, and will be composed of two series: the Desert and the Beach, which will be played in the Spring and Summer, respectively.

The new tour now is bragging that—with 500 members—it is the world’s largest professional golf tour.

I’m not sure that being the biggest is necessarily a good thing.

The Ultimate Equipment Junkie?

I thought that I was an equipment junkie until I read this article on a recent golf club auction. According to the Scotsman, banker Neil McLellan had acquired more than 3,000 state-of-the-art irons, woods, specialist wedges, putters and accessories in the hope that the latest technology would shave strokes off his 19 handicap.

The auction apparently brought 30,000 pounds (about $56,000).

I’m going to print this article and save it to show my wife whenever she accuses me of buying too much golf stuff.

Quicksilver Acquires Cleveland Golf, Never Compromise

A US sportswear company called Quicksilver has acquired the Rossignol Group, which includes Cleveland Golf, Never Compromise, plus winter sports brands Rossignol, Dynastar, Lange and Look.

I guess I’m out of it, but I had no idea that my skis were made by the same company as my wedges.

Drunken Golf Cart Driving

A California woman has been charged with DUI after she crashed her golf cart into the back of a Subaru. The passenger was thrown through the window of the cart. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and causing bodily injury - a felony - and taken to Wayne Brown Correctional Facility. She was released on $25,000 bail early Friday morning.

I wonder if they had problems with drunken horse riding in the 1800s?

Year of The Dogman Book Review
