Nothing seems to inspire golfers as much as the quest for newer, better equipment. There's always a new set of irons, a new driver, or putter, fairway wood or hybrid to try and buy. We all seem to believe that if we just get the right club, our games will improve.

Play Golf In Air Conditioned Comfort

Tired of playing golf in the heat and humidity? How about an air conditioned golf cart?

A company called Wagner’s 12 Volt Air is offering a kit that converts any golf cart to an air-conditioned palace. It’s perfect for those people who went to Florida to escape northern winters, and now find that they can’t go outside in the summer.

Of course, they could always get a summer place in Michigan. It’s a pleasant peninsula with none of the nasty summer weather of the south.

Segway Golf Cart

A couple of years ago, there was a whispering PR campaign about a mysterious product that was going to completely transform the human condition. What it turned out to be was a two-wheeled, gyroscopically balanced scooter called the Segway.

It didn't transform the world.

Now there's a company that is offering a custom Segway modified for use as a golf cart.

As much as I like gadgets, this is just too much.

New Cleveland Launcher Irons

Launcher Iron Set 3-pw w/Graphite Shaft

Cleveland Golf has a gorgeous new set of Launcher Irons. With the splash that the Launcher Driver is making on the Tour, I expect to see these Irons in more than a few bags at the club this summer.

Cleveland says that the irons have the highest moment of intertia (resistance to twisting) they’ve ever designed. That, combined with a lower center of gravity and additional offset should make it very forgiving indeed.

Patriots Headcover

Patriots Individual Headcover

Ok. It’s Superbowl week and I have yet to pay homage to that Great American Tradition. Because I’m a Michigan man, I’m going to take the Patriots and former University of Michigan Quarterback Tom Brady. So for those of you who are rooting for the Patriots, you can get this good Patriots headcover from Austad’s Golf.

Bird Dog Putters

In a weird convergence of the Westminster Kennel Show and the PGA Merchandise Show, Bird Dog Putters has released a line of mallet style flat sticks. Here’s what they say:

The Bird Dog™ Putters Oversize Mallet Series is designed to track. They have a unique weight distribution with 80% of the weight behind the face and 20% in the face. The result: the ball rolls immediately off the face with unmatched forgiveness and straighter putts.

These three oversized milled aluminum-steel mallets aptly named - “The Springer”, “The Chesapeake”, “The Brittany” offer one of the highest MOI (moment of inertia) and CG (center of gravity) of any putter on the market. The design virtually eliminates twisting of the head even on extreme heel or toe hits. The exclusive Swirllium™ insert produces a crisp, auditory response when struck, further promoting increased control.

GEL Putter Review

GEL Ruby Putter Grade: A- Teacher’s Comments: Putts as true as any I have ever used. Few ever notice, but when a ball is struck by a putter, it gives a little hop, then skids for a moment before starting to roll toward the hole. The hop…
