How To Save Money On Golf Equipment

One of my students wants to upgrade his clubs and asked me about a website where he found a deal that was too good to be true. I told him that if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. So I used the Network Solutions WhoIs tool to see where the site was based. It turns out that it’s in China. My advice to him at that point was to say no and look for a potentially more reputable seller.

If you’ve got an older set of clubs and are looking to upgrade, I think a solid, money saving idea is to get a set of slightly used, recent model sticks. Pro shops often have these, but they are generally in limited supply, and limited choice. Ebay is another option, but you need to be careful to avoid getting a knock-off, or a set that’s damaged in some unforseen way.

To perhaps better options are the Callaway Golf Pre-Owned and Outlet Store and TaylorMadeGolfPreOwned.com. Both offer pre-owned, certified clubs. Since its the manufacturer, you can shop with confidence. I bought a Callaway Driver last year through Callaway Golf Pre-Owned and had a good experience.
