Golfers face a problem that is unique in sports. In the absence of uniforms, golfers must find apparel that not only are practical, but also good looking. All of the best courses still have dress codes. Fortunately, there are a large number of fine manufacturers to choose from. including Ashworth, Nike, Callaway, Bobby Jones, Fidra, Ping, Adidas, Greg Norman, and Tehama.

I like the texture of these. Even better: they’re made of an anti-microbial and moisture transfer material.

Footjoy WinterSof Gloves Review

FOOTJOY Wintersof Glove-Blk

FOOTJOY Wintersof Glove-Blk

Grade: A

I went shopping for a new pair of cold weather gloves last week (I can’t find last year’s anywhere) and discovered that Footjoy has redesigned their WinterSof line. It’s a marked improvement in both comfort and performance over the previous model.

The literature on the Footjoy and golf shop sites is a bit confusing. What they describe is not what I bought.

These gloves are the ones pictured above, with the double elasticized cuffs, and a circular FJ logo on the back. The gloves are a quilted soft fleece-like fabric on the back, and have a material on the palm that feels like suede.

FootJoy, however, claims that there’s a velcro fit strap. There isn’t. They also describe the backing as Thinsulite, and the palms as Cabretta leather. I doubt very seriously if the materials are as described.

But it’s a very good glove. I’ve now played two rounds using them and think they’re the best winter golf gloves I’ve ever worn. My hands stayed nice and warm, but I had no problem feeling the grips. My hands stayed firmly on the clubs. There’s also no bunching in the palms.

Heck, I like them so much, I’m going to get a pair for just wearing around town for driving gloves.

FootJoy Pathfinder Walking Shoes

image

Pathfinder II Walking Shoes.

As we all know, FootJoy makes some very comfortable golf shoes. As it turns out, they also make men’s walking shoes

Why not? I can walk for miles in complete comfort in my golf shoes. All they had to do to make walkers was to take off the spikes.

I may get a pair of these. Now that I’m back at work, and the days are getting shorter, I go back to walking a mile or so at twilight for exercise in lieu of playing golf.

Visiball Glasses Review

Grade: B- Teacher’s Comments: It can help, but you still have to know where your ball went. Every golfer has had the experience of watching a ball roll just off the fairway and then—upon arriving at the location—finding that it is nowhere in sight. Nestled amongst…
