The former president of Burlington Industries, Eli Callaway came out of retirement in 1981 when -- while playing golf in Palm Springs -- he discovered a club with a shaft made by a company called Hickory Stick USA. Because the wood look reminded him of the clubs he played with as a kid, Callaway bought one half of the company. And a legend was born.

Callaway eventually bought out his Hickory Stick partners and set up Callaway Golf in Carlsbad, California. Devoting huge amounts of resources to R&D, the newly renamed Callaway Golf developed a large-headed, steel driver head that was named "The Big Bertha." The most successful driver in golf history made Callaway Golf the number one golf club manufacturer.

Callaway Big Bertha Fusion Fairway Wood

Callaway Big Bertha Fusion Fairway Wood - RH Graphite

Callaway has added to it’s line of graphite topped clubs with the Big Bertha Fusion Fairway Wood.

The club’s steel face and sole combine with the carbon composite top to keep the center of gravity low and back. The result, Callaway says, is the ability to hit a ball with a penetrating flight from almost any lie. Fusion Fairway Woods include patented Callaway Golf technologies, including Variable Face Thickness (VFT(R)), Short Straight Hollow Hosel (S2H2(R)) and Tru-Bore(R), all of which are important in optimizing feel and ball flight while increasing forgiveness.

Big Bertha Fusion Fairway Woods come with the Callaway Golf Fusion NVS from Aldila(R) graphite shaft, available in Light, Regular and Stiff flexes.

Callaway Major League Logo Balls

iconicon

I’m a big time baseball fan. I had a cousin who played catcher for the Senators in the 1960s, and when they moved from Washington, I switched my loyalties to the Baltimore Orioles. I’m in Michigan, now, but I’m still not quite a Tigers fan.

No matter where you are, though, you can show your loyalties with these Callaway Major League Logo Ballsicon.

Too bad they don’t have the Senators though. (No, the Nationals aren’t the same).
