Scotty Cameron Putters On Ebay

image

I may be putting my Scotty Cameron putter up on Ebay. There’s a seller there right now, offering eight Scotty Cameron putters for a “mere” $13,500.

You read that right. Eight putters at $1,600 each. For that price, I’d be more than willing to part with mine.

There must be something special about these that I’m missing. There are a lot of other Scotty Cameron putters on Ebay going for much less:

TaylorMade Daytona 1 Ghost Putter

TAYLORMADE Daytona 1 Ghost Putter

TAYLORMADE Daytona 1 Ghost Putter

The theory behind these new white-headed putters is that the contrast between the white head and green grass helps players with their hand-eye coordination.

Heh. With the USGA’s push for “brown” courses, I wonder how that’s going to work out.

I like the look though. Now, what I want from TaylorMade is a ghost putter that’s a center-shafted mallet.

Ping IWI CrazE Putter

PING iWi Series Craz-E Putter

PING iWi Series Craz-E Putter

Ping got its start with a heel and toe weighted putter that Karsten Solheim put together in his garage. The company’s come a long way since then, but I always find their putter offerings interesting.

This one has an adjustable weight system. It comes with a pair of 12 gram weights, but you could insert optional 20 or 28 gram weights to drastically increase the heft. I like a heavy putter, so I’m going to look for this one in the local pro shops. It’s also on sale right now in a lot of places.

TaylorMade Ross Inza Putter 70% Off

TAYLORMADE Rossa Inza Putter

TAYLORMADE Rossa Inza Putter

Golfsmith is selling the TaylorMade Rossa Inza putter for just $70—$130 off the original $200 price tag.

It’s one of those geometric designs that are supposed to offer greater stability and forgiveness, resulting in straighter putts. It’s also got a Movable Weight Technology, with two rear ports for inserting weight cartridges to adjust the club’s feel.

The face of the club is what I like, though. It’s got TaylorMade’s AGSI grooves—14 grooves positioned close together for promoting immediate forward spin—rather than backspin. I have a couple of older TaylorMade putters like this and have putted well with them.

Its probably hard to think of putted balls as having backspin. But because putters have loft, slow motion photography has shown that balls pop up, and either scoot forward without spin, or start a backspin before starting to roll forward. One current putter design theory is that the sooner a ball starts to roll forward, the more accurate the putt.

You can see an example of this in the film below:

Scotty Cameron California Putter

SCOTTY CAMERON California Putter

SCOTTY CAMERON California Putter

I think the lines on this Scotty Cameron California putter are just beautiful.

The putters are milled from soft 303 stainless steel, and is designed to offer a sound and feel that promotes distance control. The draft sole design keeps the putter square in the playing position for proper alignment, and the high toe profile eliminates players tendency to raise a putter’s toe address, causing a left-of-target aim.

Heavy Putter H1

Heavy Putter Black H1

Heavy Putter Black H1

I’ve had one of the original Heavy Putters in my bag—a center shaft, mallet model—and it’s been the best putter I’ve ever tried. The heavy shaft and head practically force a pendulum motion and keep the hands and wrist out of the stroke.

I’m thinking seriously about this mid-weight model, though. On speedy greens, the heavy model I have tends to shoot the ball too far. A lighter model that still prevents a wristy movement might be the thing.

Best of all, its just $120 right now at GolfSmith.
