Callaway X-Hot Irons Are Callaway’s “Longest Ever”
Callaway X Hot Pro 3-PW Iron Set with Steel Shafts
Callaway says that these X-Hot irons are their “longest ever.” They’re also quite sharp looking.
Designed by Roger Cleveland, the X-Hot irons are triple forged. This, Callaway says, allows for higher tolerances, which results in “more aggressive grooves and extreme precision”
Among the technologies:
Speed Frame Face: A combination of VFT and Hyperbolic Face Technology creates a larger sweet spot and increases ball speeds across the face for longer, more consistent distance. This technology is borrowed from the X Hot Driver and has been applied to the irons.
Deep Undercut Cavity: The deep clubface/undercut cavity system enables engineers to precisely position the CG, increase face compliance and engineer the face of each individual iron to maximize ball speed.
Feel Management: A dual material medallion that fine-tunes sound and promotes a crisp, dynamic feel at higher ball speeds.

Tour Edge Exotics XGC6 Irons
Tour Edge Exotics XCG6 4-PW Iron Set with Steel Shafts
Tour Edge says its Exotics XCG6 Irons are designed to “make hitting great irons shots easy.” The design’s key features are a quartet of tungsten sole weights which are used to position each club’s center of gravity, a deep undercut cavity and an “ultra-thin” face. By changing the variables of gravity location, offset, face thickness and topline thickness, each iron is individually fine-tuned for its “specific task.”
I like what I see here. If anyone has tried a set of these, I’d appreciate a review in the comments.

Wilson Staff Ci11 Irons
Wilson Staff Ci11 4-PW, GW Iron Set with Steel Shafts
Since falling in love with the Wilson Duo ball, I’ve started paying more attention to Wilson Staff clubs. The last Wilson clubs I took a serious look at were my father-in-law’s Wilson fat shafts and I really haven’t seen anyone playing Wilson clubs in years.
I’ve always had a fondness for the dark, menacing clubheads, so these Wilson Ci11 clubs caught my eye at a local shop. Here’s the sales pitch:
The Wilson Ci11 Iron Set delivers maximum playability and the power and forgiveness for those wanting additional technology. Its optimal headsize and shape continues the award-winning iron tradition while maintaining a thin topline and moderately progressive offset, perfect for that crossover player. A re-engineered exoskeleton surrounding the rear cavity that optimizes the moment of intertia and stability by pulling weight away from the face and then pulling it toward the heel and toe. A one-piece, soft-response insert is ensconced in soft 431 stainless steel to deliver satisfying sound and feel at impact, even on off-center hits. A thinner, harder face promotes the maximum CT allowed by USGA for stronger ball flight and greater distance and the sleek, black PVD finish looks sharp and turns heads.
I love dark clubheads, but have never been able to figure out why manufacturers don’t add dark steel shafts to match. I’d love to play an all-black set.

Excel ECGI Matte Black Irons

From the Pinemeadow Site:
The EGI irons with matte black melonite finish are a limited edition iron series available only while supplies last. Like the chrome version of the EGI irons the Pinemeadow Excel family is known for increased launch and large sweet spot giving you the ultimate game improvement clubs.
These irons feature a medium top-line and wide sole that provide stability and control. The EGI irons also feature a dual-level beveled flare sole that make these irons unique. The technology helps you power through any type of lie and doesn’t get caught up in the thicker rough. The result is a straighter and longer shot from any condition on the course. It also pushes the weight of the club to the bottom of the club to help generate optimal launch.
I just like the black look.

Cobra Amp Cell Irons
Cobra Men’s AMP CELL Orange Irons - (Graphite) 4-GW
The Cobra Amp Cell irons now are availablel for preorder at Golf Galaxy. Aside from the aesthetic touch of different colors for the back of the clubhead, they offer some interesting ideas. The main feature is a metalwood-like face construction, which should create greater COR (rebound effect) and offer more opportunities for weight redistribution.

Callaway X Utility Prototype Hybrid Iron
The intriguing Callaway X Utility Hybrid Irons are available for order at GolfSmith. They were designed by Roger Cleveland and intended to replace the 2-, 3- and 4-irons, in a fashion similar to the hybrids woods that so many are employing. The difference, however, is that the hybrid irons are supposed to offer tighter dispersion on mishits than with hybrids. More iron than wood, whereas the more common hybrids are more wood than iron. I like the idea, since my swing plane not had much success with the standard hybrids.

Callaway Diablo Edge Irons $300 Off
Callaway Diablo Edge R 4-PW, AW Iron Set with Steel Shafts
The fall golf club discounts continue. GolfSmith has these Callaway Diablo Edge irons at $300 off original retail. The skinny:
The Callaway Diablo Edge R Iron Set provides increased distance without compromising feel or performance. A lower, deeper center of gravity is designed to make the sweet spot more accessible at lower impact locations, and this generates longer, more consistent distance and improves accuracy for more greens in regulation. Each iron has been perimeter weighted for increased moment of inertia and greater forgiveness on off-center hits.
Delivering smooth turf interaction, the solid impact sole is designed to mitigate the effects of heavy and thin shots and improve the impact location on the face for greater distance. For enhanced feel and performance, Callaway Golf core technologies like VFT, S2H2, a 360-Degree Undercut Channel, and Modified Tru-Bore work together to maximize distance, feel, and playability.
