Pinemeadow Synchron Medic Hybrid

Synchron Medic Hybrid Irons

From Pinemeadow Golf comes the Synchron Medic Hybrid Irons.

Hybrids have to be the big story in golf equipment over the last couple of years. These are a clone of the Nike CPR clubs, and sell for just $39. Pinemeadow is confident that you’ll like them because they offer a 30 day guarantee. Buy them, play them and if you don’t like them, send ‘em back.

Pinemeadow’s blurb on the clubs:

The Synchron Medic Irons are a complete utility system for your golf bag! The latest Medic irons will lift your game to new heights. Innovative weight and distribution technology moves the center of gravity towards the soles and sides for higher angle and increased forgiveness. The head design of the utility wood allows you to make solid impact out of any lie on the course and they are also great replacements for those hard to hit long irons. Gorgeous candy apple red finish makes these clubs really standout with their look and play.

Callaway Big Bertha Heaven Wood

Callaway Big Bertha Heavenwood - Rh Graphite

I had a chance to swing a Callaway Big Bertha Heavenwood the other day and really liked it. It’s billed as a hybrid but looks to me more like a small fairway wood.  Its graceful, with none of the stumpiness of some of the other hybrids.

Callaway says that the elongated low profile face gives it a high moment of inertia (resistance to twisting) and that the modified warbird sole makes it easy to hit off of any surface. I only had the chance to hit it off tees at a range, but liked the ball flight and the feel at impact.

Louisville Golf Hy Lofters Hybrid

Louisville Golf continues its tradition of putting a modern face on classic persimmon woods with its Hy Lofters Hybrid. Louisville says the clubs:

combine both fairway wood and iron design into one solid utility club. It is the first hybrid club manufactured out of Persimmon wood. Persimmon is known for feel and accuracy, a premium for this category of clubs that replace the lower, harder-to-hit irons. The Hy-Lofters, offered in three lofts (21, 24, 27), incorporate a heavy Brass soleplate which greatly lowers the center of gravity, resulting in quick, high launches for soft-landing approaches. They are effective from both the fairway and off the tee as an alternative to the driver as an accuracy option.

While no one really knows what they are, hybrid clubs are carving out a nice niche

While no one really knows what they are, hybrid clubs are carving out a nice niche I replaced my long irons with high lofted woods and hybrid clubs last summer. It was a great move. Because I am not particularly long off the tee, I was always hitting long irons for approach shots on par 4s. The lofted woods and hybrids took a lot of pressure off that part of my game. Suddenly, I was putting for birdie several times a round.

    GEL Putter Review

GEL Ruby Putter Grade: A- Teacher’s Comments: Putts as true as any I have ever used. Few ever notice, but when a ball is struck by a putter, it gives a little hop, then skids for a moment before starting to roll toward the hole. The hop…

    A Golfer’s Education Book Review

A Golfer’s Education by Darren Kilfara Grade: C Teacher’s Comments: It’s just ok. A pleasant enough read. As I’ve mentioned in other book reviews, there’s a subset of golf literature in which expatriate American golfers write of their experiences living in Scotland and playing golf.…
