Category: Hybrids
Hybrid clubs are the new wave of golf equipment, replacing long irons with easier to hit, yet still versatile clubs. This category is for articles, reviews and information on bybrid clubs from TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Nike and others.
Acer XP 905 Hybrid
The Acer XP hybrid Hybrids sport a unique beveled-cut sole design which helps to redistribute weight for optimal launch. The sole design also provides precision accuracy as the weight is moved further back from the face.
In spite of what you would think from their low price, Hireko golf clubs are not clones, but original designs made with top quality materials. They are so sure you’ll like their products that they offer a 60 day complete satisfaction guarantee.
Acer XDS Wide Sole Hybrid
Its probably fair to say that hybrid clubs occupy a spectrum running from fat irons to small woods. The Hireko Acer XDS Wide Sole hybrids decrease the volume of the clubhead as loft increases. Still, they’re generally on the woods side of the hybrid spectrum.
Hireko says that the rearward center-of-gravity of this hybrid design is enhanced by the rails at the soleplate to help you power through the grass and prevent ‘digging’ at impact for better quality contact with the ball. A leading edge well forward of the hosel helps to create more lift and a higher launch angle.
Hireko offers custom fitting online, allowing you to choose a shaft, flex, grip, grip size, and length. They’ve also got a 60 day guarantee that makes buyign from them risk free.
Cobra Baffler DWS
At a demo day last week, I had a chance to try out a few Cobra clubs, including their Baffler hybrid. I wasn’t that impressed by Cobra’s driver or fairway woods, but very much liked the Baffler. It sets up very nicely, and was quite effective using the same swing I use with an iron. I hit an entire bucket of balls, and didn’t mis-hit a single one.
The core technology here is the Dual Weighting System, which is designed to move the weight down and out—again, the holy grail of club design. A maraging face is supposed to offer more “hot spots,” and the sculpted sole is supposed to make it easy to hit from any lie.
Whatever. It works.
PowerPlay System Q Hybrid Iron
Hireko Golf’s System Q Hybrid has a tri-port weighting system that Hireko says allows for a lower, deeper center-of-gravity and increased MOI. In addition, the three interchangeable weighted screws can be configured to encourage straight, draw, or fade trajectory. Unlike other hybrids, these are available in #2 through the sand wedge, so you can replace your entire set of irons with easy to hit hybrids.
Hireko Golf’s Dynacraft Avatar Pro Series Hybrid
The Dynacraft Avatar Pro series hybrid is designed for thebetter player who doesn’t want—or need—a lot of offset. These hybrids feature what Dynacraft calls “Negative offset (face progression or onset) like a wood. So you can still shape a shot while still getting extra consistency from a ybrid where the weight is moved back and lower in the face. The different models of the Avatar hybrid are designed to replace the 2, 3 and four irons.
You can get them as components, or assembled, and they come with a 60 day satisfaction guarantee
