GigaGolf Center Cut Ion Putter

Center Cut mod. 15 ion

The Center Cut mod. 15 ion is designed for players looking for a heavier putter that encourages a pendulum stroke. GigaGolf says that the ion version includes a milled alloy insert encased in a vibration dampening polymer that minimizes the ball tendency to hop on impact, and delivers exception feel.

The extended mallet design has a “saturn stabilizaiton bar” (rings of Saturn—get it?) to increase the moment of inertia and thus reduce twisting. The three ball alignment system is one favored by many players today.

The GolfBlogger is very much in favor of heavier putters. My two favorites these days are much heavier than normal and I am convinced that they take any wristiness out and promote a smoother stroke.

GigaGolf C9 475 Hybrids

C9 475 Hybrid

GigaGolf’s Cloud 9 475 hybrids extends their C9 line, which also includes a driver, fairway woods and irons.

The C9 475 has a Carpenter Supersteel 475 face combined with a 17-4 stainless steel body. A heavy tungsten sole plate lowers the center of gravity, helping even the worst hacker to get the ball in the air.

I recently got a C9 Driver and took it to the range. It got good distance, and had a very high ball flight. I let you know more as soon as I actually get out on a course and put it through the paces.

Like all GigaGolf clubs, this one comes with a 30 Day Playability Guarantee.

GigaGolf C9 Irons

C9 Ti Face Insert

GigaGolf expands its Cloud Nine line with the C9 irons. Designed as super game improvement clubs, these irons feature a 6-4 Titanium face insert. GigaGolf says that this technology has several design advantages for cavity backed irons. The first is that it allows most of the clubhead mass to be concentrated around the perimeter of the iron head creating a larger sweet spot for more forgiveness. The second is that Ti faces can be made thinner than stainless which maximizes COR or ball velocity. You’ll see this same technology in clubs by TaylofMade and Ben Hogan at three times the price.

A 20 gram tungsten insert was added to the toe to balance the iron head and lower the center of gravity. This creates higher, straighter golf shots.

If you’re a 18+ handicapper, you should drop those forged blades and try a set of game improvement irons. You’ll reduce your frustration, your blood pressure, and live longer. GigaGolf makes trying these clubs easy with a 30 day playability guarantee.

GigaGolf GX920 Lady Diamond Ti Driver

GX920 Lady Diamond Ti

I’ve thought for some time that the next great frontier in golf marketing is going to be among women. As the boomers retire, there are going to be a lot of women who—like my mother-in-law—will take up golf and spend more time with their husbands on the course. And they’re going to want clubs designed for them.

The GX920 Diamond Ti driver is equipped with the same high COR technology found in the men’s version. However, it is configured specifically for women looking for a higher ball flight and more power. Standard length with a graphite shaft is 44 inches, one inch shorter than the men’s standard.

Like all GigaGolf clubs, this one comes with a playability guarantee.

Gigagolf Lady Diamond GX 920 Irons

GX920 Lady Diamond Irons

There are, frankly, not a lot of good options for ladies golf clubs. As a girls golf coach, I spent a good deal of time scouring second hand shops looking for inexpensive ladies sets to buy so my high school would have sets to lend to girls golf team members who couldn’t afford their own. Otherwise, they played with mens clubs that their fathers cut down—not a good option, since that throws the swingweights all out of kilter.

GigaGolf has a good option with the Lady Diamond GX 920. The high COR thin face design increasess ball speed resulting in more distance even at slower swing speeds. The deep notched cavity and wide sole allows weight to be redistributed low and away from the impact area which provides a stable and forgiving ball strike. GigaGolf bills this set as an excellent choice for mid to high handicappers.
