Nothing seems to inspire golfers as much as the quest for newer, better equipment. There's always a new set of irons, a new driver, or putter, fairway wood or hybrid to try and buy. We all seem to believe that if we just get the right club, our games will improve.

Scotty Cameron Red X

I’ve got a Scotty Cameron Newport Putter. It’s probably the best “feeling” putter I’ve ever used. Unfortunately, I find that I putt more accurately with a mallet.

Now Cameron may have solved my problem. The new Cameron Red X and X2 have stainless steel bodies, an elastonomer insert and an aluminum sole plate for precise weighting. The X has a single bend shaft. The X2, a straight shaft and three red dots on the club head behind the shaft to aid in head setup.

They’ll be out in June. I can’t wait to try them.

Slazenger Money Ball

This is funny. Slazenger has a new product called the Money Ball which uses $ , $$ and $$$ instead of numbers as identification marks. Its a 360 dimple, soft-core, soft-feel ball. I just might get some.

Twilight Tracer Ball

I have a friend whose 2nd grade boy desperately wants one of these. And I can see why. The Twilight Tracer Ball is designed so that when you hit it, it lights up, and flashes for five minutes after impact. Like an anti-aircraft tracer bullet, you can follow the flashing path of the ball through the air, and then see it on the ground. Its perfect for an evening round, when its still light enough to play, but too dark to find your ball.

Come to think of it, I think I want a set, too. One of the great joys of golf is seeing the ball arc through the air. It would be even cooler if they flashed.
