Nothing seems to inspire golfers as much as the quest for newer, better equipment. There's always a new set of irons, a new driver, or putter, fairway wood or hybrid to try and buy. We all seem to believe that if we just get the right club, our games will improve.

New Putter MOI Study From Golfworks

The Golfworks, a leading component manufacturer, has released a new study about the effects of moment of intertia (MOI) on putters. MOI is a measure of an object's resistance to twisting. The higher the MOI, the less twisting, and thus, the more on-line any putt will be. Golfworks' Ralph Maltby, the mad scientist of golf club designers, explains it this way: Greater M.O.I. = More Distance On Off-Center Hits Greater M.O.I. = More Solid Feel On Off-Center Hits Greater M.O.I. = Better Directional Control On Off-Center Hits Greater M.O.I. = HIGHER PLAYABILITY FACTOR

While no one really knows what they are, hybrid clubs are carving out a nice niche

While no one really knows what they are, hybrid clubs are carving out a nice niche I replaced my long irons with high lofted woods and hybrid clubs last summer. It was a great move. Because I am not particularly long off the tee, I was always hitting long irons for approach shots on par 4s. The lofted woods and hybrids took a lot of pressure off that part of my game. Suddenly, I was putting for birdie several times a round.
