Amazon is my favorite place to shop. I now rarely set foot in a brick-and-mortar store for other than groceries. They’re having a Fall Blowout Sale there now and there are some golf items on the list—such as gps units.

I love the movies, but with tickets at local theaters running to $10 each, I don’t go very often. I just can’t afford to take the family when it’s $40 to get in the door, and twice again for the popcorn and drinks. Eighty dollars for two hours entertainment is too rich for my tastes.

Apparently I’m not the only one with this, for there’s a new site called Free Movie Ticket that offers subscriptions for four movie tickets at $19.99 a month. They’ll also give you a free ticket for trying them out. In my area, that’s a 50% savings.

The site promises that when up and running, the tickets will be good at 14,000 theaters nationwide. I’ll have to see if my local cineplex is included.

Now if only someone would come up with half-price popcorn ...
