Swing Reminders

Swing Reminders

Grade: A
Teacher’s Comment: Simple and effective

Swing Reminders are a brilliantly simple way to help keep you focused during a round. The product consists of a box of wooden nickels imprinted with tried and true golf swing tips: visualize, slow takeaway, tuck your right elbow and so on. Before a round, you pick a reminder or two and stick them in your pocket. Then, whenever you reach for a tee or ball marker, you’ll also pull out the wooden token and refocus on the tip.

It’s a neat idea; I wonder why no one has thought of it before.

Thanks also to the folks at Swing Reminders for their donation to the South Arbor Academy charity auction.

Izzo ATC Three Wheel Push Cart

IZZO ATC Pushcart

IZZO ATC Pushcart

When I think Izzo golf, I think of their groundbreaking dual strap for carrying golf bags. They invented it in 1991, and every stand bag since then has either used their technology, or imitated it. Since then, they’ve produced a wide variety of golf products, including training aids and golf clubs.

One of Izzo golf’s latest offerings is a three wheeled push cart. Made from lightweight aluminum, it’s got an adjustable height handle, a rainproof scorecard/ball holder and water bottle holder.

I strongly believe that golf is a walking game, and that players should not ride unless medically necessary. In fact, I won’t play a course unless it permits walking. But I long ago lugging mu clubs on my back. Having a three wheeled push cart like this eliminates all the strain and make a round of golf ... a walk in the park.

Frankenstein Head Cover

image

image Frankenstein Head Cover A pet peeve of mine is that people refer to Frankenstein’s monster as “Frankenstein,” or worse, “Frankie.” The educated reader knows that Frankenstein is the name of the Doctor in Mary Shelley’s novel. The monster is referred to throughout as the creature, or the being. At one point in Frankenstein, the creature, when addressing Dr. Frankenstein, refers to himself as “the Adam of your labors,” which has given some credence to the idea that the otherwise unnamed creature may have been named Adam.
