Collegiate Ball Markers

Linkswalker Collegiate Ball Markers

I ran across these at Amazon. A company called Linkswalker has “bulk” packs of ball markers for nearly every team you can think of. They’re all magnetic, so you can insert them onto your favorite cap marker holder. I’m going to get a couple packs of my two alma maters.

Its a funny thing, but the older I get, the more important those schools become to me. I have more WVU stuff now than when I was in school.

PGA of American Inks Deal With Omega

The PGA of American has inked a deal with Omega Watches. I love the looks of these things. But I can’t afford them any more than I can a Rolex. My next watch will be one of the vastly more affordable Citizen Watches.

Actually, I think the days of the wrist watch may be slipping away. Few people I know wear one anymore, except for special occasions. The cell phone has replaced watches as a timepiece. I still like to wear one to meetings and to church, though. Checking the time on a phone looks like I’m bored with the proceedings and reading my email

Coins As Ball Markers

imageMy playing partner yesterday used a fifty cent piece to mark his ball, which was nice because it was a change from the usual quarter or nickel. He claimed it was his lucky piece.

That got me to thinking about other possibilities for a unique ball marker, such as a dollar piece, or a foreign coin—perhaps one of those chinese coins with the holes (see the Ebay listings at the link). Then I wondered about ancient coins, and visiting Ebay, discovered that Roman Coins are actually relatively low priced. You can get a bronze one for $1. I’m guessing that those aren’t collector quality, but it’s a ball marker, not a museum piece.

I’m wondering if anyone out there uses a unique ball marker. Let us know.

Rule Golf Towel Review

image

Rule 21 Towel From Rule Golf

Grade: A
Teacher’s Comments: Top quality; very useful

Rule Golf has a good thing going with its Rule 21 Golf Towel. Ten inches long, and just over four inches wide at its broadest, the towel is designed for cleaning balls after you mark them on the green. The Rule 21 has a bamboo terry interior, and a waterproof exterior. To use, you soak the towel, and then dry off the outside. One end of the towel has a plastic latch that secures it to a bag clip. As you head to the green, unclip it from your bag, and tuck it in your back pocket with the interior side facing outward—looking for all the world like a fox’s tail. Your pants stay dry.

Actually, the design of the folds is such that I actually slide it into my pocket without incident: I just fold it in half, tucking the triangular end over.

It’s all quite clever, and very useful. At this point, I wouldn’t be without one.

The Rule 21 towel comes in a variety of colors, one of which is certain to complement your bag, or match your favorite team.
