WWII Rifle Grenade Found On Cart Seat

December 8, 2005

From the Associated Press:

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—Authorities say a grenade found in a golf cart in St. Johns County will be disposed of Wednesday. Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Kevin Kelshaw says investigators don’t know why the grenade was in the cart. The World War Two-era rifle grenade was found on the seat of a storage manager’s golf cart, then taken by the bomb squad. The grenade still had its safety pin intact. It was designed to be launched from a rifle attachment.
