WVU Golf Signs Alan Cooke

Gearing up for WVU’s first golf season in thirty years, coach Sean Covich announced the signing of West Virginia native Alan Cooke.

Cook spent the last two years playing for the Sand Sharks at the University of South Carolina at Beaufort, where he recorded a squad leading 73.28 stroke average. Cook finished under par in 17 rounds and carded eight rounds in the 60s, including a 66 in the final round of the NAIA National Preview. Cooke has claimed nine top-10 finishes, including a trio of individual tournament titles. As a freshman, he was named to the NAIA Ping All-Region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

“We’re excited to welcome yet another West Virginia native to our roster,” said Covich. “Much like Chris Williams, Alan will bring a lot of collegiate golf experience to our new program. He has continued to get better every year after graduating from Parkersburg High. I look forward to Alan becoming a leader for WVU golf over the next few years.”

Cook will be eligible immediately, with two seasons left.

As a WVU alumni, I am very excited to see golf return to the University.
