Wie To Play Reno-Tahoe Open
Fresh off her disqualification at the LPGA’s State Farm Classic, Michelle Wie has accepted an invitation to play in the Reno-Tahoe Open next week. It’ll be the eighth time she’s teed it up against the men. She has yet to make a cut.
“It’s not every day that a woman is given the opportunity to play on the greatest tour in the world,” Wie said “This is a tremendous opportunity for me to learn from these great players and take those lessons to the LPGA. This is another step in the process of making me a better player.”
I hope one of those lessons is in signing scorecards.

Oh crap. I thought she was done with that. With Tiger not playing, all cameras will probably be on Michelle for Thursday and Friday. Good luck on seeing some of the regular tour players.

This is the opposite event to the WGC Bridestone Invitational, so if people want to see Tiger Free golf, they can still watch the Bridgestone Invitational.
As for Michele Wie, lucky for us, Boo Weekley should be playing at Bridgestone and not paired with her. Can you imagine what their scorecards would look like if those two were in the same group?
I was listening to the PGA Tour network this morning on XM and Chris Dimarco was being generous when he said (loosely quoted) “she may have forgotten to sign her card but she won’t do it again.” I don’t have his faith. I think she’s going to continue to have these things happen because I don’t think she’s interested in studying the rules. They aren’t as much fun as playing the next shot. She said before that she doesn’t think reading the rule book is much fun. But she’s going to have to buckle down and become a master of the rules and red tape or else give up trying to play on any tour and just play for fun instead.
