Why Phil Won’t Win The Open Championship
Sports Illustrated’s Bob Casper says that Phil Mickelson won’t win the Open Championship.
Now there’s a stretch. At this stage, it’s easy to bet against the guy.
Casper says that the ghosts of giving away the US Open, combined with a style of play that he’s just not used to will prevent Phil from hoisting the Claret Jug.
However, I’m crossing my fingers. In spite of myself, I actually like Phil. I believe that the oft-derided “big goofy grin” is sincere ... I think that he has a lot of fun playing the game and isn’t afraid to show it.
That’s refreshing when compared to the stony faced visages of other players.

I’d like to see it be someone who plays predominantly on the European tour. The US PGA tour gets too much attention and there are a lot of good players on the European tour.
