While no one really knows what they are, hybrid clubs are carving out a nice niche

April 1, 2004 While no one really knows what they are, hybrid clubs are carving out a nice niche I replaced my long irons with high lofted woods and hybrid clubs last summer. It was a great move. Because I am not particularly long off the tee, I was always hitting long irons for approach shots on par 4s. The lofted woods and hybrids took a lot of pressure off that part of my game. Suddenly, I was putting for birdie several times a round.
