Which club?

I had 160 yards to go. It was downhill and there was a strong wind behind me. With plenty of fairway in front of the green, I decided to hit an 8 iron. Worse case, I use a three wood to chip up and on from the fairway.
I overshot the green by twenty yards and landed in a hedge.
Wrong club.
