Webb Is LPGA’s Unexpected Story
The biggest story on the LPGA this year isn’t Annika Sorenstam, or Michelle Wie, or Morgan Pressel, or any of the other players that were expected to make a big splash.
The big story is the resurgence of former world number 1 Karrie Webb.
Like David Duval, she had fallen from the lofty heights to obscurity. Unlike Duval, however, she has managed to find her way out of the wilderness. After unexpectedly winning at the Kraft Nabisco earlier this month, she validated that victory with a wire-to-wire win at the Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill.
Webb now leads the money list.
She retooled her swing during her exile in the Outback, and it now appears as though—like Tiger—the change is paying off.
We’ll see how she does at the LPGA Championship early next month.
