Watson In The 2010 US Open
This morning, the USGA granted a special exemption to Tom Watson to play in the 2010 US Open at Pebble Beach. It’s the site of one of his greatest triumphs—at the 1982 US Open. Watson said:
“I am deeply grateful to the USGA for extending me the invitation to play in the U.S. Open at one of my favorite golf courses in the world, Pebble Beach Golf Links. Some of my life’s favorite times have been spent near Stillwater Cove. I know there will be more this coming June.”
It is only fitting. In two of the last three Majors, Watson has shown that he is—at least for this moment—better than the vast majority of the regular tour guys out there.
