Trouble At The UAW’s Black Lake Complex

September 26, 2011

The UAW’s Black Lake complex—including a conference center and golf course—has become a financial burden on the shrinking UAW, according to a Reuters report.

UAW reports say that over the past ten years, the complex has taken $39 million loans from the union. The UAW counters that it was never intended to make money, but serves as an education center for the membership. Critics say that Black Lake just the tip of a huge real estate exposure for the UAW.

At any rate, Black Lake is a terrific golf course, that I think is among the best I’ve played. It’s also got some great people working there.
