Tour Edge made its reputation on its offerings of value priced, but high quality clubs. They’ve managed to do so in part by eschewing player sponsorships and large advertising budgets. So you’ll be excused if the company is a bit of a mystery.

Their designs are first rate though, and the several Tour Edge clubs I’ve owned over the years have been good buys. With the Exotics line, Tour Edge has taken a step up into the premium market. The XCG-3 Irons feature a dual dampening system that covers the entire cavity with an ultra-light carbon and thermal plastic elastomer.

The key to the 3DS system is the use of two different TPE inserts with varying firmness. The inserts are softer in the scoring irons (7-SW) to produce a more responsive feel and greater spin. In the mid and long irons a denser insert promotes greater rebound, added distance, and a firmer feel.
