Tony Lema Retrospective
Today, only golf historians remember Tony Lema, the PGA Tour star who died in a plane crash in 1966.
But during the 1960s, there were few players who could match Champaigne Tony’s skills. From 1962 to 1966, he had 26 top 3 finishes.
John Berry of the Record-Bee has a nice column that will get you up to speed on this golf legend who died far too young.

Hello,
It just so happens that I came across a set of Tony Lema’s clubs in my uncels attic, The story is that Tony had used these clubs in a few games, and left them to get re-wrapped at some guys house in Glen Cove Long Island, tony died and never picked up the clubs, my uncle purchased them in 1969, and played with them for a while, until he gave them to me just last week, they are printed with Tony Lema’s name etched into each club, plus a putter with a wodden shaft! very cool, Does anyone know were I can get this fixed up or appraised?
Thanks
Herb

I have an originally signed 4X5 tee-up shot from Tony himself given to my uncle. Any interested party should call me at (856) 205-0410.

I have a set of Tony Lema Golden Gate irons in my garage that I bought in about 1967 2-pw. Do they have any value?

Doug—your best bet is to watch Ebay and see if any of them are up for sale. That’ll tell you what they’re worth.

Came across this blog. There was a short article in Golf Digest a year or so ago about the actual putter, Tony Lema was using at the time of his death. It had been mounted in a restaurant but the place closed and the club was given to a surviving brother of Tony Lema. FYI.
