Tiger’s Being Sued By His Kindergarten Teacher

I swore I wasn’t going to write any more about Tiger’s women problems, but this is too good to pass up:

Apparently, Woody is being sued by his kindergarten teacher for the emotional distress he cause her in telling a tall tale about being tied to a tree, spray painted and stoned by other kids on the playground. Tiger also claims that the teacher, Maureen Decker, didn’t do anything to stop it.

Tiger apparently has repeated the story several times over the years, and Decker has not pursued the issue. But, she says, now that the story has appeared in Vanity Fair and on tabloid newspapers, it’s causing her much emotional distress. She wants an apology. And she’s hired Gloria Allred to get it.

Given that Tiger is a known serial liar—if you’ll lie to the ones closest to you, who won’t you lie to?—I’m inclined to believe the teacher’s version of the story. The alleged racial harassment would have occurred in 1981 or 1982 (Tiger was born in 1975)—not 1952. While bad racial relations absolutely existed in 1982, people were not insensitive to it—and especially school authorities and the media. Having a kindergartner tied up, spray painted and stoned is the kind of thing that makes the local papers—at the very least. And from my experience as a teacher (albeit in the 1990s and 2000s, not the 1980s), I am certain that its the sort of thing that would have made it into the official records—and if the teacher did ignore it, result in reprimands.
