Tiger Takes On Slow Play
The Player Who Is Without Peer says that the pace of play on the PGA Tour is too slow:
In a recent newsletter, Tiger Woods said: “It’s been an ongoing problem on the PGA Tour for some time. I honestly believe the pace of play is faster in Europe and Japan.”
Woods’ comments may have been prompted after he played against JB Holmes, who is known as one of the slower players on the PGA Tour. These comments also come in the wake of media reports blaming the decline in the number of golf rounds played on slow play.

I think PGA Tour players play slower because there’s more at stake, i.e. more money. And who’s responsible for the purses increasing up to the current levels? That would be Tiger. And really, Tiger plays all of about 15 times a year and at least a couple of those are the British Open and the WGC thing over in England so it’s not like he’s really affected by slow play.

But in a larger sense, Tiger is right. Play IS too slow, both on the PGA Tour and on public courses.

Is it really that slow on tour though? How long does a round take?
I agree that 4:15 is a little long for regular public/private rounds. Today, my fivesome finished in 4 hours, 2 walkers, 3 riders, and it was cart path only—and we waited on 1,2,3,4, and 5. The slow players must have dropped out at 9, because the back nine was speedy.

Tiger played Cink too and he’s not exactly fast. Too many practice swings, like JB, and that pose after he swings takes about 49 minutes… We got your photo Stewart, you can stop posing now.

Hey Miranda, who’s to say they’re playing for more at stake? Tiger putting for a 1.3 million dollar win is about the same as me putting for a $2 nassau win… In fact, that $2 is probably more important to me.
