Tiger vs Vijay - Epic; Saturday PGA Tee Times
It’ll be epic. Tiger vs. Vijay. Two guys trying to turn back the clock a little bit—like to 2007, when the two faced each other in the third round of the Wachovia (Quail Hollow). Then, Tiger was #1 on the money list, and Vijay #1 in Fedex Cup points. Vijay shot a 69, but Tiger edged him with a 69. In the fourth round, however, Vijay fell apart with a 74, while Tiger eventually won with a 69.
It’s strange, but I’m starting to think of Tiger as being one of the “older guys.” Thirty six is not that old, but he’s been around for so long now that he seems older than the calendar indicates.
There are other great looking matchups here, too. I’d love to follow the Phil Mickelson - Graeme McDowell pairing, which should be a study in contrasts. Or the all-Australia group of Baddeley and Scott.
2:10 Phil Mickelson, Graeme McDowell
2:20 Blake Adams, Trevor Immelman
2:30 Aaron Baddeley, Adam Scott
2:40 Jamie Donaldson, Rory McIlroy
2:50 Carl Pettersson, Ian Poulter
3:00 Vijay Singh, Tiger Woods
Here’s my prediction: No one breaks out of the pack today, and the leader is somewhere around five or six under.
