The sixth hole at Bay Pointe, in Commerce Township, Michigan. Bay Pointe is formerly a country club that, due to falling on hard times, has gone public.

My understanding is that the owners eventually want to sell or develop the land. The main reason the course remains open is that there is very little demand for property in the area. Plus the developer would inevitably have issues with the neighbors who probably prefer the open space over another condo project.
I will be playing a tournament there this Summer and hope they maintain the course.
