The New World Order—For Golf

August 13, 2012

In the wake of Rory McIlroy’s Tiger-like dominance of the PGA Championship, here are the new World Rankings:

1. Rory McIlroy - 10.35
2. Luke Donald - 9.59
3. Tiger Woods - 8.71
4. Lee Westwood - 7.35
5. Webb Simpson - 6.23
6. Adam Scott - 6.13
7. Justin Rose - 6.12
8. Bubba Watson - 6.11
9. Jason Dufner - 5.93
10. Steve Stricker - 5.78

I may be getting ahead of myself, but I’m of the belief that McIlroy will hold this spot for some time.

  • Rory’s win sets up an interesting showdown for the FedEx Cup playoffs. I’m interested to see how it plays out.

  • I do agree I think he could be there for a while. It just depends on how much golf he plays. Rory has made not secret that we wants to enjoy his life and not just play as many golf tournaments as possible.

I hope he is able to find a nice balance because I couldn’t find a more appropriate world number one at present.
