TaylorMade’s latest addition to it’s highly successfuly—and widely imitated—series of adjustable weight metal woods is the R7 460. The R7 460 offers a massive head, which results in the highest moment of intertia of any TaylorMade driver. Two widely spaced weight ports allow a player to assign a draw or fade bias to the club.

The R7 460 also has TaylorMade’s RE*AX shaft, which is designed to avoid distortion throughout the swing.

There’s also a TP Version

  • I traded in some old used clubs back in July and got this driver.  It is the longest driver I have ever hit.  Super forgiving.  Only two weights makes it very easy to configure.  I absolutely LOVE this club!

  • I’d like to know if the weighting system on the r7s drivers really work? I’ve moved the weights in every position you can configure and I can’t hit a draw as advertised. I’ve added even more weight to the heel of the club without consistent “draw” results. I’d like to see the Iron Byron hit a draw with the r7 with the weights in the draw position. I feel it’s too hard, for the average golfer, to make this club perform as advertised.

Further evidence of this is the new Draw r7. Taylor Made knows that they really didn’t get it right with the original r7s!

Have we all believed the advertising line that really doesn’t fulfill it’s true concept.

Let me know what you think.

  • I actually think that it does work. Although, once you get the weights set, there’s no need to ever move them again, which is why I think that they developed the “Draw” driver.

I, on the other hand, can’t hit a draw no matter how a driver is configured. I need a driver that helps me cut a fade. So being able to set the weights is great for that. I have a weight set, and configure it for a varying degrees of fade, depdngin upon how my game is going these days.
