TaylorMade 2009 Burner Driver
TAYLORMADE PreOwned 2009 Burner Driver
It seems that virtually everyone is offering this model—from just last year—for $149. I’m tempted.
From the literature:
Three elements in the TaylorMade Burner Driver combine to help you send those tee shots long and straight down the middle. First, next-generation Dual Crown technology lowers the CG (center of gravity) location, creating high launch and low spin. Then, TaylorMade s Inverted cone technology delivers a super-stable, high MOI (moment of inertia) clubhead design for increased forgiveness on off-center hits, sending them longer and straighter. Finally, a SuperFast shaft enables explosive swing speed for even more blazing distance.

I am tempted too. My original series Burner which is set for draw bias I cannot hit well with any confidence. I try every once in a while, but with my Callaway FT-i I am about 90% in fairway- even with the Burner Draw being quite a bit longer, I can’t spend the time to get the setup right and take the chance of screwing up what I got right now. The FT-i may be short, but in play 90% is better than long 60% of the time. I would love to get a Burner with a neutral setup to see if I can get it to work.
But first I need to try out this Callaway FT-iz. I finally got confirmation from Golfsmith that they will be sending it, now I am just waiting. Thank you Phil!

Man that thing looks sweet, especially for the price. I don’t understand why people don’t buy more pre-owned gear.

It isn’t just preowned - sometimes it is just out of season. My Burner Draw I purchased for $149 brand new when the new model of Burner came out. My Callaway X-460 I bought for $149 when the Callaway Hyper X came out.
Shortly after I got my X-460, Callaway did a roadshow at my club and I went to be fit, just to see what the guy said. He really wanted me to get a Callaway FT-i. I explained that my X-460 wasn’t even 90 days old, and he explained that the X-460 was a great club but the $400 FT-i was a whole level better. I explained I would buy one when it hit that magic $149 price point. I ended up buying it for less than $149 slightly used on callawaypreowned only about 6 months later.
