Sun Mountain Speed Cart V2

June 27, 2007

The original Sun Mountain Speed Cart is by far the bst on the market. I have been using one for two years, and wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s stylish (unlike others, it doesn’t look like a baby stroller), is durable and pushes effortlessly.

Now Sun Mountain has improved on the original with the Speed Cart V2. It’s got an improved frame and adjustable brackets to secure the bag without straps, as well as a new mesh tray and sweater pouch. Its also got all of the things that made the original so good, such as pneumatic, ball bearing wheels, drink holder, scorecard, ball, pencil and tee holder, pump for wheels, and more.

  • I’d agree with the speed cart assessment.  I’ve had mine for a year and a half.  Wouldn’t trade it for anything.

  • This V2 is great, but the price- $250 - wowee!  It may very well be worth the price, the right push cart, when used even a couple dozen times a year, will pay for itself.  But (and maybe this is the wrong question for golf equipment)- what is the production cost of one of these, $40 or so?

Still, I would buy one of these and love using it- but from what I have seen, it still doesn’t have the one feature I need- the ability to easily remove all the wheels.  For my Mustang convertible, the trunk space is very limited, and I need the cart to fold to about nothing and without taking the wheels off, it won’t get small enough.  I have a Bagboy Express LS, which is great and has proven very durable so far (about 30 rounds), but it is no SpeedCart.

I am considering one of these for my wife, if she really starts playing, and when I go out for weekend rounds and leave from home instead of work I will take her cart-- either that, or when I get a car with adequate trunk space I will get the SpeedCart.

  • I looked at one at a local golf shop; seems like it’s significantly heavier than my V1.  I don’t see that the additional features justify the significantly higher price for the V2.  Still, the Sun Mountain SBD (Speed Bag Deluxe) bag looks interesting. it’s made specifically to fit the SpeedCart.  I’m currenty using an Ogio carry-bag, which fits OK.
