Srixon Z Tour Yellow

SRIXON Z Star Tour Yellow

SRIXON Z Star Tour Yellow

Srixon claims that “Science has proven that yellow is the most visible color in the visual spectrum and psychology has correlated green with calming and stress relief; therefore Srixon has enhanced our line of golf balls based on these two findings with the introduction of Tour Yellow, which is a unique blend of yellow and green to formulate the next generation of Tour golf balls.”

The question of the day: would you play with a yellow golf ball?a

I should think I’d be laughed right out of the league.

Aside from the unusual color, this is a three-piece, “tour performance” ball. And its priced likewise.

  • This ball was been the source of much kidding earlier this year in my group only to be taken seriously today.  It started with one of our single digit handicappers who started playing with this ball, in the face of having his manhood questioned, he continued to play with them and become a fairly big fan because of the visibility.

Since then, probably 6 or so more have taken to the Srixon ball and the Pinnacle Gold Yellows are starting to appear.

I picked up a sleeve myself to try out the visibility.

I bet we will see a ProV1 and perhaps a Callaway and Nike ball coming with this high visibility yellow in the next few months.  Just watch.

  • I can’t see the yellow ball thing spreading ....

  • Wonder why high visibility yellow completely took over in tennis yet remains a small niche in golf?  I do not think a white tennis ball is even manufactured anymore.

I used to carry a high visibility yellow golf ball for times I was on the course at dusk.  That color really seemed to stand out in low light.  Hmmm,...probably a sign of my advancing age that I rarely am out on a course after sunset anymore.

  • BKuehn ... its simple. Tennis is a less manly sport smile

  • Of course!  What was I thinking?

  • Today I said the following:
After Tee shot on #1 - This yellow ball sucks
After Tee shot on #2 - This yellow ball sucks
After Tee shot on #3 - This yellow ball sucks, I am glad it is gone
After approach shot on #3 (5th after hitting 3 off of tee) - This yellow ball sucks, go in the water, only one more to go.

Then I had a fairly decent time with the 3rd ball in the sleeve for 12 holes until I faded one into a little creek which I wanted to retrieve the ball but I was afraid of the snakes.

The initial 3 holes I really wouldn’t attribute to the ball.  The ball did perform pretty well, the tee shot on #4 was a little farther than my best shots with ProV1s (not as far as HX Hots) - The ball was grabbing the greens fairly well, and as for the high visibility yellow- no joke, these things are a breeze to find.  And being able to see your tee shot for its entire flight is great.

I am not likely to start paying for a $40 ball regularly right now, not when HX Hot Plus’s are $20 a dozen - but if Callaway comes out with a Hox equivelent in yellow, or even if Maxfli comes out with a yellow Noodle, or Bridgestone comes out with one in the $25 range, I would strongly consider switching.  Maybe Srixon will come out with a yellow in the $25 range.

I will also probably switch to the Pinnacle Gold Yellow in the autumn when the leaves start falling and the balls get harder to find.

  • I tried a yellow ball once in the fall, but found that the yellow blended in with too many of the yellow fallen leaves.
