Srixon AD 333 Golf Balls
Srixon seems to me to be a forgotten player in the ball market. I don’t know anyone who plays them, in spite of their everpresent ad campaign with the toothy golf balls (I hate those ads, by the way.) It apparently is much more popular overseas than it is in the US.
The AD 333 is touted by Srixon as a ball for those who normally play the Titlesit NXT, Nike Mojo or Bridgestone E5. It’s a two piece ball that boasts a thin Rabalon cover and large “Energetic Gradient Growth” core. The Energetic Gradient Core is an interesting technology. According to Srixon, it’s firm on the perimeter, and gets gradually softer as you get closer to the center. This, Srixon says, provides faster ball speed with optimal high launch angle and low spin launch conditions.

Who are Srixon’s ads targeted towards? Not sure who an African-American-voiced golf ball uttering “Get your game on” is supposed to entice into buying Srixon products, but it sure isn’t me. And probably not African-Americans, either.

Where does this company get the money for advertising when nobody is buying the balls? I see the balls in the store, and occastionally I will get a comp sleeve in the store. I see a couple pro shops on local semi-private courses with Srixon banners and full stock—but I maybe pick up one Srixon ball for every 50 of other types on the golf course. I figure that was someone who got a free sleeve too.
Never really considered buying them.
BTW- would be neat to have some sort of way of tracking what folks find in the way of lost balls on the course. For me, this is a guess #1 would be Top Flite D2s (which I probably pick up every 3rd one I find). #2 would be ProV1, #3 NXT, #4 HX Black, #5 Nike something, #6 Callaway HX Hot or Big Bertha.

I’ve bought and played the AD 333s, but didn’t find them special in any way. For about the same money I prefer the Bridgestone e6, and for less I really prefer the Nike Power Soft. I also wonder about their ads, finding them aggravating. They sure don’t make me want to run out and buy the product!

I’ve played these for a while now and like them. I seem to get a bit more distance out of them than the NXT’s, and don’t have problems spinning them on wedge shots.
The price point is about right too.
The ads do nothing for me though.

I think this ball performs quite well. I bought 3-dozen for $20 and it performs almost identically to the NXT Tour. It’s long and stops quickly on the green. I hit my irons pretty high and I want the ball to land and stick on the green most of the time.
It does not check much on chips around the green, which can cause problems if you’re not used to it. But, I think as long as you play with the same ball all the time, you can get used to the reaction of the ball to the surface of the green and hit shots accordingly.
Overall, I think this ball is a great value. I paid about .50/each for AAAA balls online. Demand is low, so I’m happy to have found them.
