Snow Day
We had a snow day here today, as most of the school districts in the region—mine included—cancelled classes. That meant that I could sleep in and just generally relax. And that’s all good.
The downside was that I had to spend a good hour clearing the driveway of six inches of snow. I do it the old fashioned way—with a shovel. It’s good exercise, and you can really work up a sweat. Unfortunately, as the temperature is hovering at around twelve degrees, and the wind is blowing stiffly, that left me frozen to the bone.
Fortunately, I have a cure: a mug of hot cider fortified with a shot of Myers Dark Rum.
I can’t wait until spring.

Dear GB:
Get yourself to the Patagonia web site. http//www.patagonia.com and buy some of the best all activity thermal underwear known to man. Golf, shoveling, walking, skiing, running and cigar smoking are all made more comfortable wearing their thermal layering system. You may sweat, but you will never be cold again.

Can women use this all activity thermal underwear too? They have the a/c on in my office building and I freeze to death (the office pet always says she’s hot so the thermostat is set to please her and not the other 20 people who work in the area).
As for the snow shoveling, last Wednesday, my dad and I spent a total of 4 hours shoveling my driveway. And I only had about 4 inches of snow. It’s a long, steep driveway. Unfortunately, today it’s covered in a sheet of very thick ice and probably won’t melt until sometime next week. So, I have another use for the undies, wearing them for the long hike to and from my car which is parked over a quarter of a mile away from the house. I can’t drive up to the house.
I also can’t wait for Spring.
