R7 CGB Max Driver

Coming soon from TaylorMade is the R7 CGB Max driver, which sports a 460cc triangular head and three weight ports. When the included 16-gram weight is placed in the heel port, it offers the biggest draw bias in the TaylorMade line, with as much as a 35 yard difference. Placing the same weight in the center encourages a mild draw, while screwing it into the toe produces a slight fade. The same weight system is said to create a difference in loft of one degree up or down.

TaylorMade’s “SuperFast” technology is supposed to reduce the overall weight of the club, increasing speed, and thus distance. For me, though, the best part is that it continues the use of the Inverted Cone System. I’ve got the cones on my R7 XD Irons, and on my R7 driver, and find that it really does work. I get more distance and accuracy with these than with any other set I’ve ever played with.

Unfortunately, the R7 CGB Max is way out of the GolfBlogger’s budget. At $499 suggested retail, I’ll just have to dream.

  • Don’t worry, within 6 months after this Driver hits the stores, TaylorMade will have something even bigger and better, which means the price of CGB Max will drop.  I know, I use TaylorMade Drivers and if you’re just a bit patience, you can get them cheaper.

  • TaylorMade Friends & Family coupon: 67% off drivers and irons + free shipping
TaylorMadeGolf.com knocks 67% off select drivers and irons via coupon code “TM8845T” as part of its Friends and Family Holiday Promotion. With free shipping, it’s by far the best percent-off discount we’ve seen for these items from TaylorMade. (Please note that TaylorMade reserves the right to “reject any order”, so this deal might not last long.) Some best bets, after discount:
Tour Burner Driver LH 10.5 Regular for $99
r7 CGB Max Driver RH 9.5 Regular (pictured) for $165
Burner XD 4-AW Graph RH Stiff Iron Set for $363

  • I’ve never seen anything on the TaylorMade site where they actually sell cubs. They only refer you to a retailer.
