PRO ACTIVE SPORTS Clear Shield

I hate scratching up my driver and wood heads, and so have used these plastic head protectors for some years now. They were originally available only directly from the manufacturer, but I’ve now seen them at GolfSmith—and I assume they’re also at better stocked local pro shops.

They are thin, sticky vinyl strips in a half-oval shape that stick directly to the club. You just have to be careful to situate the flat edge just over the top of the face. Assuming that you don’t really smack the top of your clubs on a regular basis, they should last for months. The one on my driver has been there for a couple of seasons. The ones on the woods don’t last quite a season because dirt eventually creeps up under the edges and they lose their adhesion.

Still, I think these are a good investment.
