Pinehurst Continues To Grow Rough For US Open

June 1, 2005

The bizzarely cool May has slowed the growth of the Bermuda grass that lines the fairways at Pinehurst. The USGA wants the rough to be 3 inches tall for the US Open.

The fairways also will apparently be three to four yards more narrow than when Payne Stewart won the Open in 1999.

  • I enjoy watching when the big boys have to work hard. It just makes it so much more interesting to watch!
